What is a Hands-On Reptile Encounter?Our Hands-On Reptile Encounter has everything from alligators and snakes to lizards and insects. We offer a large variety of animals, so no two shows are ever alike. We have interesting animals that most people have never seen before, like a legless lizard from Europe that's almost 4 feet long and a carpet python from Austrailia. We also have animals that are listed with CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). Animals that without proper habitat protection and protection from trade in skins could result in their extinction. These include the red tegu from Argentina and the tomato frog from Madagascar. Everyone gets a chance to hold or pet each animal. We explain where each animal comes from in the wild as well as what types of things that it eats and any unusual behaviors that they might exhibit. Not only is the Hands-On Reptile Encounter lots of fun, but it is also an extremely educational event. It is perfect for parties, schools, educational presentations, Girl or Boy Scout meetings, or just for fun!

We have 3 very happy lizards right now that came from 3 different families. Petri, who we already told you about. Shasta is a 10 year old, 5 foot long, male green iguana. He was lovingly cared for by a couple for his entire life. Due to a change in their lives, they felt that the best thing for him was to find him a new home where he will always be cared for and can help educate people about these great lizards. We have now had him about a year and he's doing great! He eats well, and now has a new larger outdoor cage. Scurvey (now renamed Jerome) is a little bearded dragon that I met at a Reptile Encounter. He had 3 great kids that took excellent care of him. They needed to find him another home, and now he has a special place in our lives, too. Our little girl Meagan loves to feed him his crickets!
The best way to contact us is by phone You may also use email Saturdays and Sundays book about 1 month in advance, so please call as far ahead as you can. There is always a chance that a date will be open, so don't hesitate to call and ask.
